"For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit,.." NIV
Eric NSIMIRIMANA is one of the believers who are following the first principles teachings at The Church of God of Prophecy in Burundi located in Cibitoke, Bujumbura Mayorship.
Before doing the first principles, Eric was stuck in patterns he didn’t even realize were shaping the direction of his life. He had some habits he couldn't notice that they were affecting his life. On the surface, things looked fine. But beneath it all, He was drifting, unanchored and unfulfilled.
In that situation, Eric encountered the first principles teachings, and everything began to change. Through the forth booklet of the first series which talks about heart habits, the teachings helped him ask the right questions: What is the purpose of life? What kind of man am I becoming? What foundation am I building my life on?
Eric then came to a hard truth: bad habits aren’t just small mistakes. They're seeds that grow into destruction if left unchecked. He saw clearly that he was slowly sabotaging his future, his relationships, and even his walk with God—not through one big failure, but through thousands of small compromises. The first principles helped him strip away excuses and face the root of the problem. He learned that change doesn't come through emotion alone—it comes through discipline, truth, and commitment to God's design for life.
He therefore started building new habits: waking up early, setting goals, managing his time, and surrounding himself with people who push him to grow. As he said, though there are still temptations and setbacks he has clarity. He knows that every small decision matters. He knows that healthy habits are not just routines—they’re daily acts of worship and alignment with who God created him to be.
Today, He walks with purpose. He is no longer a slave to his past patterns. He thanks God for the light of first principles that exposed the lies and showed him the path to freedom.
