IRANKUNDA Sosthène is one of the Believers who followed the first principles teachings at True Vine Church, One of our partner churches in Bujumbura. He came from the Baptist church located in Bubanza.
Not too long ago, IRANKUNDA Sosthène felt like he was just going through the motions. He had grown up hearing about Christianity (his father was a pastor), church services, Bible verses, moral lessons—but deep down, something was missing. The pieces didn’t seem to fit. What exactly was the Good News? Was it just about being good, or was there something more?
That changed when Sosthène was introduced to the First Principles teachings—a clear, biblical framework that walks through the foundational truths of the gospel, one step at a time. At first, IRANKUNDA Sosthène was skeptical. “I thought I already knew what the Bible was about,” he said. “But First Principles helped me slow down and really see what God was saying, not just what I assumed He meant.”
Through sessions focused on the identity of Jesus, the meaning of the cross, the power of the resurrection, and the true nature of the church, IRANKUNDA Sosthène began to understand the Good News for the first time—not just as religious information, but as personal transformation.
“I realized the Good News isn’t just that God loves us,” he said. “It’s that through Jesus, we are invited into a new life—one where we’re forgiven, restored and sent into the world with purpose.”
That clarity changed everything. Today, Sosthène is living with a new sense of joy and mission. Whether he’s at work, connecting with neighbors, or spending time with friends, he looks for opportunities to share what he’s discovered.“It’s not about being preachy,” he explains. “It’s about showing people the kind of life that’s possible when we follow Jesus—not just in name, but in truth. First Principles helped me build that foundation. Now I get to help others do the same.”
Sosthène’s journey is a powerful reminder: when the gospel becomes clear, it also becomes contagious
